Honeymoon!!!

OK... so the first post of this blog will have to be about the honeymoon because I dont have digital copies of the wedding yet.  Key word being yet and the topic of a whole other day.

So off we go!

We arrived at the airport Monday morning with no time to lollygag around.  Our flight was early and we got to the gate just in time to miss a free upgrade to first class to another honeymooning couple.  But no worries though, we cozied in to our seats near the back of the plane and were treated to a great view of the paradise that awaited us as we approached Mexico!

After a short 15 minute van ride from the airport to our resort (and a couple of Coronas to boot), we arrived to early for check in so we battled the sweltering sun with the power of Champagne.

And then we ventured out on the resort, which was enormous...

And a few stops to take in the view on the beach.

Our ventures in to the city of Playa del Carmen, once at night and once all day in to the morning hours proved to be full of great views, interesting people, and fun times.  Below are pictures from those 2 trips.

This dip had to be the hottest dip I have ever ate in my life.  It was scorching, but of course my lovely wife handled it like a champ!  It must of been a sign of what was to come...  Next stop, Senior Frogs

While drinking most of our lunch at Senior Frogs, it somehow got out that Kristina loves hot stuff!  One thing led to another and she found herself right in the middle of a Habanero pepper eating contest.  The challenger, a Playa local (and manager of the restaurant).  The stakes, she loses, we pay up 10 bucks, she wins, our tab is on the house!  Who could turn that challenge down?  Well, I would, but not Kristina when it comes to peppers.  This guy had no idea what he was in store for.

As the tension builds, as well as the heat and sweat, the manager is thoroughly impressed...

Four whole peppers later (very very hot peppers), the contest is over, our tab is on the house and the manager is quite impressed :)

I'm pretty sure there is a law somewhere that says simply, go to Mexico, smoke Cuban cigar.  So I did.

My wife about to receive the best Lobster dinner on earth!

This would be the jungle view from our honeymoon villa.

Another one of the locals pictured above.  I believe his name was Taco

One of the ocean views above opposite of the jungle side from our villa

Us enjoying dinner at our favorite dining spot in the resort.  Kompai!  Fantastic Sushi.  Yum :)

Arguably one of Kristina's favorite experiences from our adventure was releasing the baby sea turtles in to the surf after midnight.  It really was awesome.

I took the picture above on the way out our last morning there.  It was back to the States, back to reality, but most importantly it was the end of wedding planning, wedding entertaining, traveling, partying and exotic adventure... and the beginning of a new and wonderful life together as husband and wife.
